Classes run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00pm - 5:30pm.

Every Thursday of the School Term

Be guided through the development and presentation of your HSC Major work by a tutor who received a band 6 for HSC Art and Exhibited in the Art Express Exhibition. Students will receive assistance will all elements of their HSC Major work including, production of major artwork, presentation of work, visual art diary and theory.

Social Painting Club

Social painting Club runs every Wednesday from 1:00pm - 3:00pm and every Thursday 6:00pm - 8:00pm.

Perfect for those wanting to work on their own piece in the company of other artists and enjoy a beverage of choice. An art tutor is available to assist with projects.

Wednesdays is a more mature painting group.

Acrylic Painting Beginners Crash Course

Dates: Saturday February 8, 2025

The perfect class for the complete beginner or experienced artist looking to refresh their skills.

This workshop combines 3 of our most popular classes into an immersive one-day masterclass.

Students will learn:

* Colour mixing and colour fundamentals
* Brush and equipment basics
* Peliminary drawing and surface preparation
* Paint application and mixing techniques
* Identifying tone
* Creating 3 dimensional form using paint

Students will complete a series of small studies before completing a small acrylic painting on canvas.

Oil Painting - Beginners Crash Course

Learn the fundamentals of oil painting in this one-day masterclass!

Students will learn the properties of oil paint and oil painting equipment, how to prepare a surface, how to mix colour, blending techniques, paint application, and how to work with solvents and oils. Students will complete a number of studies giving them a rounded introduction to the versatility of oil painting.

Painting the Sea -Impressionist Style

This class is perfect for the complete beginner or students wanting to expand their knowledge of landscape painting.  

With a focus on French Impressionism, students will learn how to use color to create light depth in landscape painting with a focus on creating depth, movements and light on water.

In this class students will be guided on how to identify light and its movement throughout a landscape while learning colour mixing techniques, paint application, building texture and movement and creating atmosphere.

Whilst completing a painting study over 2 sessions students will learn: 

* To capture light using colour
* To create atmosphere in landscape using light
* Develop transitions between light and shadow
* Create the illusion of depth in landscape
* Create the illusion of three dimensional forms in landscape
* Soft and hard edges in landscape painting

Still Life Painting - Focus on Blooms

Time: 6:00PM - 8:00PM

Dates: Thursday February 13th, 20th, 27th and 6th March

Be guided through the intricate process of painting flowers. There is really nothing quite so satisfying as completing a beautiful still life painting and hanging it on your wall.

Students will learn a variety of techniques to create open blooms using oil paint.

MASTER COPY - RENOIR

Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Dates: Thursday March 13, 20, 27 & April 3.

There is no one greater to learn from than a master painter.

Be guided step by step to recreate Renoir’s “Bather seated on a Rock” by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1892).

For this artwork students will learn:

* Development of layered skin tone and under painting to
achieve depth in flesh.

* Achieving balance between loose and refined brushwork.

* Creating depth in hair

* Achieving movement and flow throughout a painting.

* Achieving accuracy in anatomical forms and facial
features.

Degas, Cezanne, Chagall and Picasso all spent time in the
Louvre studying the works of the Masters. Paul Cezanne said: “the Lovure is a book from which one can learn to read”. A tradition dating back to 1793, aspiring artists would carry their easels to the Louvre and copy paintings of the masters.  

By copying a work, you are forced to understand what is in it, how the artist created it, its brushstrokes, colours, light and movement.

Portraiture Painting Crash Course

Painting Feathers and Fur

Part 1. Complete a series of studies with a tutor to learn various trips, tricks and techniques to create the textures of feathers and the fur of various animals.

Part 2: Weekend Workshop
Take the skills you have learnt in Part 1 to complete a painting over 2 days with a focus on feathers and/or fur. step by step guidance is provided for the duration of this workshop.

All materials including a canvas is provided.

MONDAY EVENING SOCIAL DRAWING CLUB

Join us in the studio every Monday evening for a relaxed drawing session, guaranteed to help you ease your way into the week.

Work on your own drawing at your own pace (with the assistance of a tutor) or pull up an easel and join the class in drawing the subject of the evening.

The Tutor will set up a different series of drawing props/subject matter each week designed to inspire and challenge.

Please note that payment for each specialty class is required one week prior to the course commencement date. Payment must be made in full. In the event that a student is unable to make class, an additional class time or ‘make up class’ will be arranged. A class requires a minimum of five students to run. In the event that your class is not running, you may be awarded a credit to spend on an alternate class or be notified with your class is running. Classes will not be refunded.
